The original Fun Guy behind the farm, Steve turned his passion for the outdoors and fascination with mushrooms into a thriving Wisconsin business.
With a background rooted in hunting, fishing, and foraging, Steve's curiosity about fungi led him to explore mushroom cultivation and eventually build Fun Guy Farm from the ground up.
What started in a small shed grew into a large-scale mushroom operation and a community of passionate fungi enthusiasts.
Although Steve is now mostly retired, his vision and adventurous spirit remain at the heart of Fun Guy Farm.
A Family-Rooted Beginning
Behind Fun Guy Farm's growth is a story of family, encouragement, and shared ideas.
From the earliest days, Steve's wife, Tracy, has been a constant source of support, helping encourage the dream as it grew from an idea into a business.
Steve's son, Dustin, also played an important role in the early stages, working alongside his father as they explored ideas and developed plans for the future of the farm.
What began with family support has grown into something even larger: a community of growers, team members, customers, and fellow mushroom enthusiasts who share an appreciation for fungi.
That sense of community remains one of the most important parts of Fun Guy Farm.

Production Manager
Sasha's journey into mushroom cultivation began with a love of forests, foraging, and the fascinating science behind fungi.
That curiosity inspired her to pursue a bachelor's degree in Biogeography, building a strong foundation in the relationship between living organisms and their environments.
Operations Manager
Shelby brings an incredible combination of energy, experience, and mushroom knowledge to Fun Guy Farm.
A certified Wisconsin Wild Mushroom Identifier and Seller and a board member of the Wisconsin Mycology Society, Shelby has extensive knowledge of wild mushrooms, identification, and traditional herbal uses.
Mushroom Cultivator
For Nikolai, exploring the outdoors is second nature. An avid forager and Wisconsin native, he has spent countless hours searching for edible plants and fungi while discovering some of the state's most interesting natural spaces.
